RadRails, achieving focus

The focus of RadRails is going to move towards achieving dynamic content assist. We want an intelligent editor that can tell you what classes are in your workspace or in the rails core and provide potential methods to call much in the same way Eclipse does this for Java. The re-integration of RDT will advance the RadRails editing experience for now but dynamic and intelligent assistance is the goal.

Love the Windows

The CIO of the company I work for called me tonight (around 7ish) to have me send out an important email company wide. (A system was entering some unscheduled maintenance, and I had to get the word out.) I turned on my WONDERFUL Dell* computer, logged in, and was presented with this lovely message. (See below)

The best part about this BSOD is that the installation of Windows I'm running is about 3 weeks old.

Love the Windows

Can't wait until my MacBook Pro shows up. Maybe I'll start bringing it to work.

*I love this Dell laptop. I had to send it back to Dell because it would only power on 1 out of 5 times when I pressed the power button. Kind of like an old car. You got to keep turning the key until the engine finally catches. Oh, and Windows would lock up after 10 minutes of use when I had an ethernet cable plugged in to it. (Worked fine when using wireless.) Like I said above, Love the Windows.

Wow, it's been a while. Where I'm at, day job, house, MacBook Pro.

I haven't worked on my project since the first week of December. Between the holidays (i.e. family and shopping) and late nights at the office due to my promotion I just haven't been able to work on it.

I'm not stopping my project. I just need to get everything in order at my day job before I can get back on this project. I'm currently recruiting a developer (Java/Coldfusion/Flex) and a business analyst (MIS Graduate). If you live in Orlando and are interested, contact me and I'll send you the job description.

I'm really happy with my promotion. It's a lot of work, but the rewards are great. I love managing a department. It's a total blast. (I say this 1 month in, check back in 1 year ;) My salary increase has also allowed me to buy two new things.
  1. New House
  2. Apple MacBook Pro
My wife and I have been talking about having children, and I want to raise my kids in the same kind of house I grew up in. 2-story with plenty of space to run around, and a dinning room and living room that the children aren't allowed in. :)

My current Windows PC is almost 4 years old. Honestly, since making the switch from Java to Ruby development my workstation needs have decreased (don't need as much power and RAM). But i've been dieing for an Apple computer for a while now. I got a ton (5) of Apple Store gift cards for X-mas. Unfortunately, the online store only accepts 4 gift cards for an order so I'm keeping one of the gift cards for a future airport express, blank DVD's, or a mouse. See the specs on my MacBook Pro below.

I'm joining the Apple family!

I hope everyone had a happy holidays. Take care!
