1 person project task management

Once I got my, MacBook Pro, I was keeping track of my outstanding project tasks with the Dashboard's "Stickies" widget. I totally loved it, until I needed to keep more than 5 or 6 things jotted down.

One day I literally stumbled upon the free application that comes with all (I guess) Mac's called, OmniOutliner. This app is insane. I totally love it. I like to refer to it as, "not a spread sheet". You can create columns and rows. The contents of each cell can contain sub cells which can include other rows or notes. The columns can be a varity of "types". And each row can be "checked off".

I should stop trying to explain the app. It comes with your Mac, so try it out if you haven't already. And if you don't have a Mac.... Well, why don't you have a Mac? :P

I never understand what that app was for or why it was included with my Mac. I use Basecamp for project management.

Hi John,

I've played around with Basecamp in the past, and honestly, I just didn't "get it". I found it confusing and awkward to use. (I know, I must be the only person on the planet. And how dare I criticize the creator of RoR. ;) But I just don't like it!)

Hey Michael, that's fair enough, of course we should all use what works for us. I've only just started using Basecamp myself.

Weird... my PowerBook came with OmniGraffle and an OmniOutliner trial, and my MacBookPro comes with OmniOutliner and no OmniGraffle.

They're both great aps, but I'll take Graffle over Outliner any day. Graffle kicks ass, and me like-y vector drawing.

Thankfully, OmniGraffle runs great in Rosetta (or "Rosatia" as some of my Mac-geek friends have started calling it), so now I get both. MOO HOO HAA HAA HAA!

Yeah, same here. I bet it was because Graffle wasn't shipping Intel native yet.

Nice to know you've upgraded from sticky notes. ;) I've tried Basecamp before and found it a bit awkward as well, but I love their other apps (i.e. Tadalist) I have yet to mess with OmniOutliner.
