No Fluff Just Stuff, Central Florida Software Symposium

I went to the Central Florida Software Symposium over the weekend. It's a 3-day, Java-centric conference. Here's what I took away.

1. All the presenters are "agile" guys.
2. All the presenters are very interested in what Ruby and Ruby on Rails can do.

I got to meet and talk with a lot of really nice people. I met Bruce Tate, the author of the book, Better, Faster, Lighter Java. He's a super-nice guy; he let me pick his brain on a few topics. His conference sessions were all really interesting. Especially the one titled, Politics of Persistence. He gave us the break-down on all of different vendors who've twisted the various Java technologies out there to benefit themselves, but ultimately hurt all the developers. Here's a quick rundown; If a company is anywhere near Java, chances are they've screwed it up for their own gain.

I also got to meet a few people who are local to Central Florida. I have no shame, so I handed out my blog URL. :) Steve, Jennifer, and Ken: if you guys need any help with Spring, drop me a line. I may be able to help you with something!
